- Authors

- Abstract
The article discusses the use of extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) as a potential intervention for patients with refractory cardiac arrest. ECPR involves draining blood from the body, oxygenating it, and then returning it to the arterial system, providing better oxygen delivery than conventional CPR. The article highlights the need for a proactive approach to implementing ECPR in the UK, as it is currently underutilized. The article also discusses the selection criteria for ECPR and the challenges in implementing ECPR services. The authors emphasize the importance of developing institutional expertise and ensuring equitable access to ECPR services across the UK.
