- Abstract
In Québec, since the 1960s a variety of reforms have provoked changes in high school teaching practices. These changes pose many challenges to teachers, especially in terms of professional skill development. Measures should therefore be put in place to support teachers as they transform their professional practices. This article is a report on an action research conducted at a low socioeconomic-status school with teachers from a variety of disciplines who wanted to enhance student learning. The learning circles and inclusion system allowed teachers to mobilize around a common set of teaching practices and to be part of a reflective process on conditions needed to better serve exceptional students who are integrated into the regular classroom. An analysis of the results shows that at the end of the study, teachers perceived improvements in the classroom climate, the learning achieved by their students, and the professional connections they formed thanks to the system. We would especially like to emphasize the importance of linking a variety of resources to bring about the expected changes.
