Hiring Wombs through Assisted Reproductive Technologies: Legal Issues.
- Authors

- Abstract
The completeness of marital life occurs by the birth of an offspring. Hence an infertile couple is looked down with ridicule. But due to the development in science and technology, infertile couples can now avail the assistance of technology to procreate their biological offspring. However, this transaction could involve as many as five people who maybe directly or indirectly involved in it. As the number of people involved in a 'transaction' increases so do the legal tangles. The use of Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) throws up many issues of which the paternity of the child holds prime place. All the existing legislations across the world cater to these issues only to some extent. This article explores the various legal issues related to ART and suggests the need for a revamping in the existing legislations.
