- Title
CCS: will it really bury the problem?
- Authors
Fergusson-Rees, Andrew; Fergusson, Sheila
- Abstract
An interview with Sheila Fergusson, an independent energy consultant, is presented. When asked about the percentage of 2008 total energy consumption which is from fossil fuels, she states that it is 88 percent and includes hydroelectricity but excludes other renewable resources. She mentions that the so-called geological carbon capture and storage (CCS) is a loophole in environmental legislation and could allow centralised power generation companies to get government funding and claim carbon credits in return for generating power from fossil fuels.
