Enel and EdF gear up for nuclear power renaissance in Italy.
Abstract
The article reports on Sviluppon Nucleare Italia, a 50:50 joint venture between Enel of Italy and Electricité de France (EdF), which will develop feasibility studies for third-generation European pressurised reactor (EPR) units to be built in Italy. It notes that Italian government has voted to end the use of nuclear power in 1987, but in May 2008, plans to restart the country's nuclear programme was announced.
