- Title
This I Believe II: Teaching English Methods.
- Authors
Cancienne, Mary Beth
- Abstract
In this narrative Dr. Cancienne writes her teaching philosophy as "I believe" statements modeled from NPR's "I Believe" series. The main themes of the narrative include fostering a strong teacher identity along with teaching ideas about language, literacy, and culture in the 21st century. Next, Dr. Cancienne illustrates examples of her ideas by explaining how she teaches English methods to her JMU students. Finally, she reflects on the teaching and learning process and how these ideas are passed on from one generation to another. This narrative originally published in the Virginia English Journal in 2012 has been revised 4 years later.
