- Abstract
In this article, the author looks at the disorders showed by U.S. soldiers returning from wars. The author reflects on the book "Soldier's Heart: Teaching Literature in Peace and War at West Point," written by Elizabeth Samet. She explains the meaning of the term "soldier's heart." She also cites the soldier's experiences of an anxiety disorder and the symptoms of heart systems during the Civil War. In addition, the author highlights the prevalence of post-traumatic stress syndrome among soldiers from later wars.
