- Title
The Novelty of Modernity.
- Authors
Plax, Martin
- Abstract
The author focuses on the significance of novels in modern society. The author states that the novel investigates the existential and aesthetic truth about human existence. The novel exists in contrast to music, graphic arts and literature in 2009. To support his thesis, the author focuses on the views of contemporary novelist Milan Kundera, who has argued that what has been happening to the novel is the key to understanding the definition of Modernity. According to Kundera the novel is being deprived of its reason to exist, resulting in humanity questioning what is truth as well as the meaning of modernity.
