The article discusses an account of library resources, bibliographical technics and documentary research prepared by historian and researcher Douglas E. Scates and the author. A compilation of discussions on major topics related to the study of history from earlier times to the modern day including nature, sources, criticism, metaphysical and psychological aspects and methodology of historical research has been presented. The three major deciding factors are purpose, content and scope that determine and influence the style and adaptation in written materials.
