- Abstract
The article presents the text of a speech by assistant professor Glenn Rediger at the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) White Coat ceremony in Honolulu, Hawaii on July 16, 2010. He discussed the ethical responsibility of medical personnel to recognize the autonomy of patients. He explained how to guide patients particularly in making medical care decisions. He advised medical students not to be affected by criticism against the medical profession.
