Review of the evolution of mining engineering curriculum in the US.
- Authors
Sevim, H.; Honaker, R.
- Abstract
The article presents a historical overview of the mining engineering curriculum in the U.S. It is noted that the super cycle period of global mineral supply and demand as of 2012 has led to a shortage of mining engineers in the U.S., Canada, and Australia. Topics include the importance of communication skills for mining engineering students, industry-university cooperation, and the inclusion of interdisciplinary study of social and environmental issues in the curriculum.
