- Abstract
The article provides suggestions for avoiding some of the most common mistakes in pressure relief system design. It mentions information on API 521 is an oil and gas standard, published by the American Petroleum Institute. It mentions that standard equations used for gas and vapour relief device sizing are built on an assumption that the fluid is behaving as an ideal gas and although many vapours do not follow the ideal gas law, pressure relief devices are adequately sized on this basis.
