- Abstract
Chinese teaism was formed during the historic times, and its stereotyping was influenced by Buddhism, especially the Zen School. However, the influence had two sides: on the one hand, Zen School had made itself sinicized by virtue of the tea party and tea event rituals; on the other hand, Chinese tea culture had been upgraded through absorbing Buddhist teachings with an explicit formal expression as well as a unique spiritual connotation, developing to teaism by throwing off tea’s materiality. For Chinese teaism enthusiasts, Chinese teaism can give passageway of harmonizing mind and body, and pursuing life meaning in the everyday world.
