- Abstract
The article "Maria in the Chants of the Liturgy" deals with the liturgical chants dedicated to Mary. The repertoire of Marian chants is rich and mainly includes the liturgy of the hours and the Mass. The reception of the Song of Songs in Gregorian chant plays an important role. Various antiphons and sequences based on texts from the Song of Songs are presented. The use of these texts dates back to the Middle Ages and has a broad history of reception and impact to this day. The text also deals with the Marian chant "Sub tuum praesidium" in various Christian traditions. The chant dates back to the 3rd or 4th century and is still sung in Orthodox, Coptic, Armenian, and Catholic churches.
