- Abstract
The article presents a study on the snowpack and soil frost changes at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest (HBEF) in New Hampshire, U.S. It used simultaneous heat and water (SHAW) specific model to stimulate soil freezing and thawing and field measurements of solar radiation and wind for model input. Results show implications of short frost-covered period for forest ecosystem processes such as tree phenology and growth, hydrological flowpaths in winter, and biogeochemical processes in soil.
