- Abstract
The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between individual, social, functional and organizational factors with the prevalence of BS in public school teachers. Therefore, the research, of a descriptive and correlational character with a quantitative approach, used two questionnaires as instruments of data collection, the Maslach Burnout Inventory "Educators Survey-Es" (MBI-ED) and the Social-Functional (QSF), applied with 65 permanent teachers from schools in the state of Rio Grande do Norte who teach classes in high school. The data collected were subjected to statistical tests involving the Pearson and Anova correlation with the help of SPSS version 21. The results showed that about one fifth of the investigated teachers had a high prevalence of the syndrome and another 33% tended to develop it. The study's findings showed that regarding the significant correlations, the relationship between the emotional exhaustion dimension and the variables: marital status, disciplines outside the training area and opportunities for updating stands out. The study brings relevant contributions, since organizational awareness about the nuances of the syndrome and the adoption of measures aimed at mitigating its impacts on individuals can make the work environment healthier and more effective.
