- Abstract
The claim that the new right (neo-liberal and neoconservative) approaches are common is that the world has entered a new era since the 1980s. The claim that a new era has been entered has been made more evident with the new suffix added to the words right, liberal and conservative, as well as post suffixes: post- industrial society, postfordism, postmodernism and also post-capitalist society. These approaches are complemented by the descriptions starting with the end suffix as like the end of the ideology, the end of the history. These magnificent claims, which are connected with each other, herald the entry of a brand new era in the history of humanity, and it is claimed that a new era has been exceeded, transcended (post) and closed -this period is handled with complete negativity- and that a new and glorious era has begun. With the beginning of a claims of "new", "post" and "the new", this article quest that these approaches claim to have gone beyond and now come to an end, which are pointed out by these approaches, they have voiced the idea of what the new right approaches are against, what they should go beyond and end, in short. It will be looked at which socio-political phenomena the new right approaches have a hostile attitude towards. Then, the claims made with the new appendix will be questioned and it will be discussed whether these approaches really represent a new approach and a new social formation. Finally, in the period known as neo- liberalism (we prefer to conceptualize it as the new right because it is a synthesis of neoliberal and neoconservative approaches), whether the right populist movements that emerged as a reaction against these new right policies are alternatives to these movements, or in other words, whether they are an alternative to these movements. It has been questioned whether the approaches are antithesis of each other or represent the continuation of each other.
