Viñetas de guerra en el ABC republicano (1936-1939).
- Authors
Espinosa-Etxenike, Francisco J.
- Abstract
The coup d'état of 17-18th July 1936 led to the Spanish Civil War. The newspaper ABC, conservative and monarchical, had two editions, one in Madrid and another in Seville. The Sevillian edition remained in rebel territory and continued with her previous editorial line. The edition from Madrid was seized and controlled by the party Unión Republicana. This article analyzes the 777 cartoons published in ABC of Madrid during the Spanish civil war. This graphic material contributed to maintain high morale in the front and in the rearguard and constituted a fundamental channel of republican propaganda.
