- Abstract
Removable partial dentures with attachments are a long-term type of prosthetic treatment, with expectations of 8 to 10 years period of use. However, their need for maintenance, reassessment and periodical change of resilient components is a key factor for fulfilling the esthetic and functional expectations. Often, this type of combined (fixed and removable) prosthetic restoration involves restoring the entire jaw, or most of it. Unfortunately, even during the correct use of the denture, accidents can still occur; some of them can question the entire prosthetic restoration, with additional costs in money, time and effort. The case presented here is a useful method to easily recover a maxillary prosthetic treatment after the extraction of an abutment due to extensive root resorption, without losing either the fixed or the removable denture.
