- Abstract
The article features author Robert Black and his publisher George Bentley, head of the Victorian fiction publisher Richard Bentley & Son. It is stated that Black, despite being a first-time novelist when he started negotiations with Bentley in 1877, has been a proficient author, having had contributions in both fiction and nonfiction stories to a range of periodicals and had also published two short story collections. According to the article, Black's literary experience has helped him appear in the volumes of the Bentley letterbooks.
