- Abstract
The education based on identity and cultural diversity, and it is a need of the current times as a way to defend peoples against the hegemonic domination imposed by neoliberal globalization. Schools and the media play a fundamental role as this is one of their social functions. In José Martí we find a philosophy of dignity and cultural resistance exposed in the magazine The Golden Age, which was aimed at the children of Latin America for being a region in which feelings of inferiority and submission to foreign models had been cultivated. The text that we elaborate allows us to value the importance, timeliness of Martí’s ideas about what is proper and diverse in our cultural reality, and to assume a liberating educational strategy based on the recognition of the best of our history and social achievement.
