- Title
VALIDATING ATMOSPHERIC REANALYSIS DATA USING TROPICAL CYCLONES AS THERMOMETERS.
- Authors
KOSSIN, JAMES P.
- Abstract
The article discusses research that examined the use of tropical cyclones as thermometers to validate atmospheric reanalysis data. Topics covered include the sampling of upper-tropospheric temperatures, the use of tropical cyclones to mitigate uncertainties due to discrepancies among different reanalysis data, and the measurement of the cloud-top temperatures of the resulting cloud that serve as a proxy for storm-local upper-tropospheric temperatures.
