- Abstract
A Tripanossomose equina, também conhecida por "surra" ou "mal das cadeiras", é uma doença causada por um hemoprotozoário flagelado. Ocorre em áreas de clima tropical e subtropical do planeta, fator intimamente relacionado aos vetores que participam do ciclo de transmissão da doença sendo esses mutucas, moscas e morcegos hematófagos. A fotomicrografia resulta de uma análise citológica de líquor corado com Rosenfeld, proveniente de uma égua, adulta, sem histórico, advinda da apreensão feita pela Secretaria de Estado da Agricultura, Abastecimento e Desenvolvimento Rural (SEAGRI) que foi atendida no Hospital Veterinário, Setor de Grandes Animais da Universidade de Brasília (UNB), apresentando apatia, hiporexia, escore corporal 1 (escala de 1 a 5), taquipneia, taquicardia, torcicolo e se mantinha em decúbito lateral. O animal foi submetido a eutanásia após não apresentar melhora no tratamento e o material analisado e discutido em questão foi coletado horas antes do procedimento. A partir da punção na região lombossacral foram colhidos 8 mL de liquor que foram acondicionados em dois tubos, sendo um tubo seco e outro com anticoagulante (EDTA). À análise física, o liquor apresentava-se incolor, levemente turvo com densidade de 1.007. No exame químico apresentava pH 7,0, teste de pandy positivo, proteína: 135,5 mg/dL e glicose: 60mg/dL (Cobas ROCHE C-111®). No hemocitômetro foram contadas 1.942 hemácias/µl e 47 células nucleadas/µl. A citologia foi realizada em duas lâminas preparadas por citocentrifugação e coradas com Rosenfeld. Foram contadas 400 células, compreendendo células monocitóides (18%), linfócitos (76%), neutrófilos (5%) e eosinófilos (1%). Foi relatada ainda a presença de plasmócitos, eritrofagocitose e presença de tripomastigotas de Trypanosoma spp. O parasita consegue atravessar a barreira hematoencefálica instituindo o processo inflamatório no sistema nervoso, acarretando pequenos focos hemorrágicos acompanhado de edema e a cronicidade da doença cursa com sinais neurológicos.
