- Abstract
The antenna required for wireless communication should be lightweight, low cost and small size. This paper presents the design and analysis of microstrip antenna. The proposed antenna offers more wideband as compared to designed rectangular microstrip. Both antennas use microstrip line for feeding purpose. In the present scenario, researchers are aiming at developing a novel design of microstrip antenna which would provide good broadband and gain. The proposed microstrip patch antenna has shown bandwidth improvement with good return loss and also improvement in antenna gain. The well-known technique of rectangular shaped feed line of the square microstrip antenna is changed and the corresponding change in bandwidth and gain of the antenna is compared. Improvement in bandwidth with good return loss and gain of the antenna is also observed. The compact patch antenna is meant to operate in X-band of frequency ranging from 8 to 12 GHz. The proposed microstrip antenna has shown an overall wideband of bandwidth 500 MHz with a peak gain of 10.34, and is very useful in many wireless applications for X-band.
