- Abstract
This document seeks to review the value of documentary animation for the recovery of collective memory and the visibility of events that could not be recorded directly without neglecting the discussion about the relevance of the term in pursuit of the degree of intervention of the filmmaker, his discretionary nature and the decisions around the moments of the narrations that want to be presented. In the Colombian case, by way of raising the state of the art, it can be seen that the most evident concern of national filmmakers over the last few decades has to do with the problems arising from the internal armed conflict, the aftermath it has left in the national reality, the recurring dynamics of impact on the most vulnerable populations and the actors that have been involved, which is not only a recurring theme but has led to a form of complaint and restoration for victims and those affected by the violence generated. In order to measure this, a tracing of the academic and research reflection that has been generated on the subject of documentary animation, its impacts, achievements, limits and constructions at a national and international level is carried out, as well as an identification of Colombian audiovisual material in different types of exhibition and diffusion screens that can be framed in this category.
