- Abstract
Introduction: Health education is understood in its complexity, presenting itself as multifaceted, bringing with it several conceptions, both of health and education. Objective: To understand the importance of health education activities during academic training in a nursing course. Methods: Qualitative, exploratory-descriptive approach, developed with 15 participants. Data collection took place in the virtual mode between May and June 2022 and data processing was done using the Iramuteq software. Results: The discourse analysis led to the understanding that the main limitations of the discipline of health education involve a shortage of hours and an excess of theoretical content, in a way that does not allow opportunities to materialize it in a practical way in the sense of concretizing knowledge, and strengthening of the theoretical-practical relationship. Conclusion: Therefore, future intervention studies are recommended, as well as the implementation of extension curricularization.
