Haws, J. B.
- Abstract
An essay is presented on the effects of the film "The God Makers" and the actions of forger and convicted murderer Mark Hofmann on U.S. public opinion regarding Mormonism. According to the author, the negative impressions created by these events were mutually reinforcing and have continued to influence Americans' perceptions of the Mormon Church. Topics discussed include U.S. attitudes towards cults, the history of the Mormon church, and its relationship with U.S. evangelicals.
