- Abstract
The micro credit was initiated to develop the rural poor. The commercial banks and micro finance institutions are playing an important role in disbursement of micro credit. The ultimate aim of micro credit is to uplift the economic and other empowerment among the women. The present study has made on attempt to examine this aspect in Madurai district, Tamilnadu. The study reveals that there is a significant increase in leadership, decision-making, personality, economic, social, managerial and political and legal empowerment due to the micro-credit offered by the commercial banks.
