- Title
Measure cost vs. utility before deciding on retinal disease treatment.
- Authors
Gagnon, Louise
- Abstract
The article focuses on the remarks by Doctor Sanjay Sharma at the Sally Letson Symposium in Ottawa, Ontario about the economic impact of treating retinal disorders. Sanjay said that pharmacoeconomic analysis would increasingly be employed to justify the costs of the therapeutics to treat retinal diseases. He spoke about the probability of vision improvement in the case of treating wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD) with a treatment such as Lucentis. He cited one of the primary measurements in deciding the cost-effectiveness of a treatment.
