- Abstract
The article presents a study of the production of Alpine Permafrost Index Map(APIM) that covers the entire European Alps. The study uses a unified statistical model based on Alpine permafrost distribution observations for debris and bedrock surfaces across the Alps. Results demonstrate that Switzerland is likely to have the largest permafrost area, followed by Italy, Austria and France.
