- Title
Invited Perspective: PFAS in Breast Milk and Infant Formula-It's Time to Start Monitoring.
- Authors
LaKind, Judy S.
- Abstract
The article urges for the monitoring of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in breast milk and infant formula. It attributes women's lack of access to national breast milk monitoring programs to the cost, complexity associated with setting up and maintaining such effort, and inability to place measured levels of chemicals into risk-based content. Emphasis is given on the need for health-based guidance values for infant PFAS exposures to help make informed decisions.
