- Abstract
The article discusses lovesickness in the writings of early modern Jewish Italian physicians, including Amatus Lusitanus, Philotheus Elianus Montato, and Jacob Zahalon. The author comments on the perceived social causes of lovesickness, including the inability to choose a marriage partner. He also provides biographical information about the physicians and comments on the physicians' views on therapies for lovesickness. Other topics discussed include Jewish medicine, unfulfilled love, and Converso physicians.
