- Abstract
The article offers information on the practical significance of the European Union (EU) adequacy mechanism in the assessment of cross-border data transfers between the U.S. and the EU. It discusses various cases for and against U.S. privacy law with relevance to the adequacy of the EU privacy law. It also analyzes the significance of different legal acts related to privacy laws including the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Privacy Act of 1974, and Video Privacy Protection Act.
