The Well-Tun'd Word: Musical Interpretation of English Poetry 1597-1651 (Book).
- Authors
Flannigan, Roy
- Abstract
This article focuses on the book “The Well-Tun'd Word: Musical Interpretations of English Poetry,” by Elsie Bickford Jorgens. Although this book is not about Milton, it is a definitive and extremely useful book about the connection between music and poetry in the Renaissance. The book is an extremely close-textured work of loving scholarship which tells the story of words and music in the Renaissance as well or better than it ever has been told in the past.
