Witchcraft and deliverance: An exaggerated theme in Pentecostal churches in Central Africa.
- Authors
Garrard, David J.
- Abstract
The place, significance and possibility of demon possession of Christian believers has become especially important as a topic in Pentecostal churches during recent years; this is primarily true among groups which have strong links with African churches which have now passed on their worldviews to believers in other continents. This paper looks at the entire question from an African perspective and from actual practice in that arena which assumes that allcontre tempsare the result of demons and possession. It attempts a brief rebuttal in the light of Scriptural teaching and the deficiencies in African Worldview and African Traditional Religions related to these concepts.
