- Abstract
The article presents two case studies on delayed diagnosis of appendicitis in older patients resulting in perforated appendicitis. It states an 83-year-old man had no gastrointestinal symptoms upon hospital admission but had an Amyand hernia revealed with abdominal computed tomography that was treated with emergency appendectomy and hernia repair. It mentions an 87-year-old patient admitted to the hospital after a fall and the eventual diagnosis of perforated appendicitis with acute peritonitis.
