- Abstract
The analysis of the casino as a social establishment in Mexico is usually scarce, and most focus on the gambling problem, but if this has to do largely with casinos, why not study them first? This document is the result of a field research in two casinos in Pachuca, Hidalgo, starting from the question: How is the basic social order of the casino? The goal is to reduce the type of organization called interactional to patterns that could classify and describe game encounters. The methodology used was naturalistic non-systematic participant observation to enter casinos as a player and observe what happens there. The results pointed to the role and totemic framework as two key patterns of social organization.
