- Abstract
In this article, we analyze the meanings of community care (hereafter CC), understood as the set of social care practices that are articulated from spaces managed by the community and involve various daily actions essential to sustaining life. The identification of the CC deployed, especially by immigrant women, shows the state's neglect of foreigners. Our research aims to understand the meanings of CC of Latin American women who participate in non-institutionalized groups in Spain, from where they carry out various practices of co-management of "their" (self) care in contexts of migration. Based on a qualitative methodology, we show how these experiences involve survival and agency strategies at different levels. We conclude by highlighting how migrant women's knowledge in this field allows us to explore new places and ways of thinking about CC.
