- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of gender on the division of labour in 18th century Europe, with a particular focus on the printing and needlework industries. The relationship of tools and technology in the workplace with social status is discussed. The role that guilds played in reflecting the social status held by males within 18th century European society is also discussed.
