- Title
"Hard, Hard Times" for the Mad Cow.
- Authors
Rogers, Tim
- Abstract
The article presents the lyrics to an added verse of the song "Hard, Hard Times," written by Paddy Tutty and Terry Pugh. The western Canadian parody was composed while driving to a rally protesting the removal of a subsidy to the Canadian railroads for carrying prairie wheat to port known as Crowsnest Rate. The last verse was added after the mad cow disease was detected in Alberta in 2003. It was in response to Alberta's premier, Ralph Klein, who said that the rancher who sold the cow with the disease should have just shot it and buried it.
