- Abstract
Moreover, as brought up by the other essayists, Johnson's arguments about anti-racism fall flat; he seems to drop into the same Marxian tropes that choose not to analyze identity politics as an effective tool coupled with class-based analyses. Cedric Johnson's "The Panthers Can't Save Us Now: Debating Black Politics and Black Lives Matter" generates a wholly unique perspective of Black and left-wing politics in the social media age. Cedric Johnson's collaborative book, a collection of essays debating the efficacy of things like identity politics, class politics, and historicism, is a provocative, yet necessary project.
