Abstract
This article presents information on a study on the noisemaking habits of snapping shrimps and their significant roles within the oyster reef in North Carolina's Pamlico Sound. It discusses the habitat of snapping shrimps, how they make their signature sound, the key role of the noise in helping organisms find the reef, and the seasonal differences in the level of sound produced by snapping shrimps.
