- Title
For Grades 4-6: Pump Up Your Body!
- Abstract
The article presents a classroom activity where students will be asked to investigate how exercise affects their breathing rate and heart rate. As a start, the teacher may ask the students to bring materials like stopwatch and pencil necessary in facilitating the activity. The students may then follow the format of exercise in the book "Movers and Shapers." Before, during, and after the exercise, they may be asked to explain and exposit the nature, effect and significance of exercise to their heart rate. After the informal discussion, the teacher may refer again to the book and discuss the different body systems that were used during their exercises.
