- Abstract
The article reports on research conducted to examine joint kinematics and muscle activation recorded during walking and elliptical training to provide evidence-based data to guide clinical decision making. Researchers evaluated 25 adults with no gait disorders using a prospective, controlled laboratory study. They found that while one of the elliptical trainers best simulated sagittal-plane walking kinematics. electromyographic analysis tailed to identity one clearly superior device. The researchers concluded that their research provided enough data to help guide clinical decision making related to the use of elliptical trainers.
