- Abstract
This document is a response to a letter to the editor regarding a study comparing minimally invasive fusion surgery techniques for patients with degenerative spondylolisthesis and severe lumbar spinal stenosis. The authors address concerns raised in the letter, including the longer operative time in the midline lumbar interbody fusion (MIDLIF) group, which they attribute to the more extensive bone decompression involved in this technique. They also discuss missing data in the study and the decision to use a surgeon-defined global outcome measure instead of patient-reported outcome measures. The authors acknowledge the need for further research on early outcomes and patient-reported outcome measures for these techniques.
