- Abstract
This article discusses the nomenclature dilemma surrounding atopic dermatitis (AD) or atopic eczema (AE), a chronic inflammatory skin disease. The study analyzes web search data from 21 European countries to investigate the use of different terms and their impact on disease-related information access. The findings reveal that lay terms are preferred by the general population, indicating a need for standardized terminology and language in health information and patient communication. The study emphasizes the importance of adapting information to specific country needs and addressing confusion and perception differences in patient communication.
