- Abstract
The article examines the Indigenous self-government approach of the Aboriginal Film and Video Art Alliance (AFVAA) to Indigenous media in Canada. Topics discussed include the aim of the AFVAA to support the development of an Indigenous media language that connects Indigenous cultural politics and screen representation, background on the establishment of the AFVAA in April 1991, and partnership of the AFVAA with mainstream cultural institutions for the creation of Indigenous participation.
