- Abstract
The article provides overview of history of teaching Italian poet Dante Alighieri in 19-century Great Britain. It mentions that on February 18th, William Hazlitt inaugurated his course of eight Lectures on the English Poets at the Surrey Institution in London. It also mentions that the combination of historicist and aesthetic approaches also characterized Ugo Foscolo's own lecture "On the Life, The Poem and the Age of Dante," given on May 15th, 1823.
