- Abstract
Objectives: to reflect on the impact caused in the care provided to this population during t he Covid-19 pandemic. Methods: This is a reflection article, which seeks to discuss the impacts caused to the assistance of people affected by leprosy during the pandemic period, based on official documents and articles that sought to guide the work processes and strategies of professionals working in the APS. Results: leprosy is a public health problem in Brazil and a condition that demands continuous attention, as well as timely care and early detection of cases, mainly due to its disabling potential. However, the pandemic influenced the diagnosis and monitoring of cases of the disease in Brazil. With the need to reorganize Primary Health Care in order to reduce the chances of contamination by Covid- 19, there was a decrease in demand for diagnosis, treatment and/or follow-up of patients with other diseases, including leprosy. Final considerations: A reflective approach was then necessary regarding the impact caused in the assistance provided to this population during the Covid-19 pandemic, in order to contribute to the development of strategies used to maintain care at the level of Primary Health Care, given the long and unknown period of coexistence with Sars-Cov, and mainly in the sense of avoiding a setback in the advances achieved in the confrontation and elimination of leprosy as a public health problem.
