- Abstract
The article reports on a research conducted in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico, to determine the presence of species of the genus Pythium in water used for agricultural irrigation. Floating traps with pear fruits were placed in 39 sampling points and five isolates of Pythium were obtained. These isolates were identified and their pathogenicity in tomato, chili, and cucumber plants and fruits was determined. The results revealed the presence of the species Pythium aphanidermatum, P. pachycaule, and P. torulosum, which were found to be pathogenic to the mentioned plants and fruits.
